22 June - Day 3
Well rested and finally feeling better (kind of, Sonaj's throat was hurting) we took the subway to the most south point of Manhattan. We walked around in Battery Park and came to the realization that Ellis Island and Liberty Island were still closed because of hurricane Sandy years ago. The boat tickets were really expensive there so we just visited Castle Clinton to then take the free ferry to Staten Island.
Castle Clinton.
The boat trip was very fun. It was sunny and windy on the water. In our way to Staten Island we sat at the side where we could see the statue of Liberty, in our way back we sat at the other side so we could see Brooklyn and Governors Island. The views on both sides were really nice.

After getting off we returned to Battery park and rested a bit before we continued walking past the Museum of the American Indian to The Charging Bull. The Charging Bull is basically a bronze statue made for Wall Street representing aggressive financial optimism. It's said to bring luck to rub his balls or horns so of course Sonaj had to rub the bull's balls. After that we walked to Trinity Church where we sat for a bit, then we visited Wall Street.

Machine that was meant to make noise, so we think.

Trinity Church in the distance. It used to be the highest building of the neighbourhood. Not anymore.
By then we were pretty hungry so Sonaj looked on his phone for close by places to eat. He found out there was a Chipotle nearby. It's some kind of Mexican fast food restaurant. We had a bowl of different kinds of meat, brown beans, veggies, rice and a lot of sauces. It was really good. Sadly we only thought about taking a picture after Sonaj mixed everything up, haha. After that we walked to the New York city hall. We bought a blueberry muffin and a Double Blended Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino at a nearby Starbucks and rested a bit at the fountain in the park at the city hall. When we were rested we walked past the Supreme Court and arrived in China Town.

Half eaten blueberry muffin (best muffin I ever ate) and half a Double Blended Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino from Starbucks.

China Town was in one word awesome! All the signs at the stores were in Chinese so it was as if we were really in China. There were all kinds of small stores with funny cheap trinkets and stores with really gross food. They sold sea cucumbers per example that looked like black smelly stones and they sold dried fish stomachs. There were also Chinese candy stores where Sonaj bought some candies and we bought bags filled with fortune cookies for only $1. We bought some New York T-shirts, a scarf for my mother and Sonaj bought me cute looking chopsticks. We took a break to drink bubble tea (which is green tea with jellies in it or something). We also went into some arcade hall where there was some crazy guy playing this arcade game where he had to jump on arrows on the floor. He had a success rate of like 90%. It was really awesome to watch him.
Chinatown.
I was really tired after all that so we took the subway back to the hotel. When we were a few streets from our hotel we couldn't pass because they were recording Spider Man 2! We saw Spider Man passing on a police car followed by many more police cars. When we finally could pass we saw that the whole street was empty, a unique sight in New York. Sonaj had to stop to take a picture. We ate the sushi we bought the first day for dinner.
