Chapter 5:Volcano
Neocro followed Jess, on her new account, through Flaris. She tried to imagine how she once ran around here with the people from the statue. Neocro kept her new yoyos in her bag. She didn't want Jess to see them, not yet. When the stars started to shine above them, and the sun started to disappear, they walked back to Flarine. Jess waved her good-bye and disappeared. Neocro walked slowly to the guild house. She was welcome there, wasn't she?
When she opened the door, no one looked up. Neocro looked around and saw the boy in the black pajamas sitting in the same corner of the room again. What was his name again? She walked to him. "Hi Dino!" The boy looked to Neocro. "It's... Dion..." Neocro's face turned red. Dion laughed. "Come, sit with me again." Neocro put herself down on the free chair near Dion. "Have you been training today?" asked Dion. "Sort of..." said Neocro. Dion smiled. "You look a lot stronger than yesterday!" Dion looked to Neocro's brown vagrant clothes. "What job do you have? I can't imagine you're still a vagrant." "I'm skilled with yoyos." said Neocro. "Haha, we all noticed that here. Then you're a Jester, aren't you?" Neocro didn't know what to answer. She was a Jester, right? Neocro just nodded. "Why don't you get yourself some stronger armor?" asked Dion. "I actually never thought about that." said Neocro. "Let's get you some tomorrow, when we go to Darken." said Dion. Neocro looked surprised. "Are we going to Darken tomorrow?" Dion hesitated. "Oh... Well... Andy is going Hero..." "So you're going with us, right Neocro?" Neocro looked behind her. Sean was standing there. "Don't worry, I'll protect you in Volcano." said Sean. "You can't even protect yourself, Sean." said Dino smiling. "Hi! You have to see me fighting now, I trained a lot last week. I'm so much stronger now." "We'll see Sean." said another voice. Rick appeared. Neocro smiled. Her hand touched the yoyos in her bag. Hèr yoyos.
The next morning they left early to Darken. When they arrived there, everyone started to look around in the shops. Dion guided her through the many stores. Sean and Rick followed them. "What are you looking for?" asked Rick. "Dino is searching stronger armor for me." said Neocro. "Dino?" Sean laughed. Dion lifted his shoulders. "A Hyper set would be better for her, right?" "If you think so, Dino!" Sean laughed again. Neocro looked apologizing to Dion. "Don't worry, Dino is a good nickname!" he smiled. "If I knew earlier that she was a Jester I would've bought her a Hyper set instead of vagrant clothes..." said Rick. "Why didn't you tell me?" "Cause I didn't know." said Neocro. "But you made me really happy with buying this clothes for me." Rick smiled.
A bit later Neocro proudly walked around with a white Hyper set on. "Do you have yoyos?" asked Dino. Neocro nodded, not showing them. "Let's go wait on the rest." said Rick. They walked to the northern exit of the town. When they left town Neocro saw a few people in the distance. They seemed to be fighting and laughing. When they noticed Neocro, Sean, Rick and Dino appearing, they walked up to them. "Quick, get on your board." said Rick, half whispering. Neocro was so smart that she bought a board meanwhile, and jumped on it. Dino jumped on a bike, Rick used another kind of bike and Sean used his wings. The group came closer. Neocro followed Sean, Rick and Dino back to town. When she looked behind her, she recognized the group. It was the group she bumped on after she 'awoke'. "Who are they?" asked Neocro. "Mafia."sighted Dino. "They enjoy killing other players." continued Sean. "I dislike them so much..." So strange, thought Neocro. Why would players want to kill other players?
When the guild was complete, they flew through the cave to Darkon 3. Most of them had a special bike or wings. Neocro told herself that she should ask Sean or Dino later how she could get a pair of this wings. After flying through a big gate, they reached a maze of plants. "Woaw!" said Neocro. "Have you never been here before?" asked Rick. "I probably have..." said Neocro quietly. She tried to keep up with the rest of the group, through the maze of plants. When they got out of the maze, they reached another gate. They flew through it and the scenery was a lot different. Neocro looked around her and saw a lot of huge trees. When she looked below her she saw the greenest grass she has ever seen. Neocro narrowed her eyes. She saw a ruin between the roots of one of the trees. Neocro flew slower and flew to the ruin. She jumped off her board. There was weed all over the beams that once supported the roof of a small house. It seemed to have burned, once. "Neocro, what are you doing?" Sean ran to her. Neocro didn't notice that she fell on her knees. Tears welled up in her eyes. Rick landed too. "W-what is this?" asked Neocro, more to herself. "It has been here forever." said Sean. "No one bothers to clean it up, and grass doesn't seem the grow over it." Neocro stared to the ruin. "Neocro... I don't know what's wrong but... We really have to keep up with the rest." Neocro nodded and got up, she took her board and followed Sean and Rick to the entrance of Volcano. Dino was already ahead.
"Ah, there you are." said Nathalie, the guild leader. She was standing aside Nico. "Let's go." said Nico. Alex walked to Sean and put his hand his shoulder. "So do you need my protection." he laughed. Sean shook of Alex's hand. "Wait till you see me fighting!" "I bet they'll die before you càn even touch them." He laughed and walked back to Andy. Andy looked happy, he ran after Nico and Natalie into volcano. Neocro got buffed and followed the others inside volcano. The air was red inside, it somewhat made it harder to breath. The ground under her seemed warm. There were lava rivers everywhere. A few fighters ran already further into the volcano, they were killings dragons. "Dragons?" asked Neocro. "Meteonykers." said Dino. "They're everywhere here in this Volcano. "Meteo..."
"The Meteonyker managed to grab him with his claws. It was my fault." "It was not." interrupted Souleater. Neocro her eyes narrowed as she looked into the distance. The Red Meteonyker was still there.
Neocro shook her head. She ran together with the others deeper into the volcano. Dragons were everywhere but by the time Neocro arrived at them, they were dead already. Neocro didn't take out her yoyos, it just felt like she shouldn't. The group ran over a bridge and ran on a road that seemed to lead to the top of the Volcano. There were no Meteonykers anymore on this road, but Cyclops. How higher they got how more Neocro could see of the Volcano. It was bigger than she first though it would be. After a long run they arrived the top. Neocro was surprised to see a girl there. Everyone was talking through each other. When Andy stepped forward, everyone got quiet. Andy walked to the girl and showed her a bag. The girl took a look inside and smiled. "Go and show the world your new power. I name you a Hero of this world! A protector of Madrigal!" Firework appeared everywhere. Everyone applauded and congratulated Andy. "Big party in guild house!" shouted Alex. Everyone used blink wings and disappeared. Neocro was stunned.
Was this it? Was Andy a hero now? Was this all it took to be a Hero? For some reason Neocro felt anger running through her body. "Neocro, let's go." said Sean. Neocro couldn't move. "What was in that bag that Andy showed her?" "Some eyes of the cyclops, some hearts and teeth from the Meteonykers." said Rick. Neocro made fists of her hands. She walked to the girl. "What is this? How can he turn into a hero just like this? How do you know he's worth the name hero?" Neocro her voice raised. "Is he now supposed to protect the people from Madrigal? And who are you to make him a hero?!" The girl in the red robe looked Neocro in the eyes. She lifted her hand and put it on Neocro's shoulder. "I am Rhisis. Don't be disappointed, Neocropain, awoken True Hero." Neocro was stunned. "I have no choice. There are no True Heroes anymore." She let Neocro go and turned around. She slowly walked away. "W-wait!" screamed Neocro. It became black in front her eyes.
They sat all around the fire that burned in the middle of the tent. David's voice was one with the wind outside. "All new Heroes in Madrigal get the task to become a true Hero to protect Madrigal. Only a few get another task." A story followed.
Neocro opened slowly her eyes. She tried to remember where she was. "This sucks, Dino. We have to get out here." said Sean. "We cannot." said Dino, gasping. "Neocro fainted." "I can see that! But you can't handle so many cyclops, Rick and my dammage ain't high enough to help you." "Get away from here, Sean. Let me and Dino handle this." said Rick. "But I want to fight too, even if I do little dammage!" "But you'll die if any of this monsters attack you, then we have 2 people on the ground!" Neocro shocked. She got up and looked to Dino, Rick and Sean. They were fighting 4 cyclops, they were all attacking Dino. Sean and Rick were trying to help killing them. Dino was already hurt all over his body, it didn't look like Dino could handle this much longer. Neocro took her yoyos out of her bag. She turned them around. Green lights. She threw them in the air. White lights. She ran as fast as she could to the cyclops and threw them to one of the cyclops. One down. She disappeared in dark illusion and appeared behind another Cyclop. Two down. She threw the yoyos one by one to the Cyclop closest to her. Hit, hit, hit, hit... Three down. Neocro pushed hard on her yoyos and swung them to the last Cyclop. Hit, hit, hit, hit... Fourth and last one down. Neocro gasped. "Well... I really need to train more." Dino, Rick and Sean were too surprised to answer.
